I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I best serve individuals ranging from the ages of 16 into late adulthood. I have over twelve years of mental health experience in multiple settings. I have a particular interest in helping clients heal from addiction illness, eating disorders, trauma/traumatic experiences, and the residual effects of chronic childhood toxic stress which may lead to addiction illness, eating disorders, self-harming behaviors, depression, anxiety, and other psychological / emotional distress symptoms.
My approach to therapy is client centered, trauma informed, and relationally-oriented. I incorporate a wide range of modalities to best fit the needs of each client. My practice is informed by brain development and neurology and utilizes an AIR Network model, attachment-based theory and interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) along with motivational interviewing techniques and solution focused strategies.
Specifically, I am trained / certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network Model and trained in Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual therapy is also called therapy, psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, talk therapy, and counseling and is a joint process between a therapist and a person in therapy. Common goals of therapy can be to inspire change or improve quality of life. People may seek therapy for help with issues that are hard to face alone.
CHEMICAL HEALTH COUNSELING
Chemical dependency counseling addresses the ways in which drugs and alcohol affect people on personal and physical levels and in their relationships with others.
TRAUMA THERAPY
Trauma is a distressing event in which a person feels severely threatened emotionally, psychologically, or physically. Most people will experience a traumatic event at some point in their lives, and people may recover from trauma with time and with accessing support. For others, the effects of trauma are lasting, causing a person to live with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, or post traumatic stress far after the trauma has occurred. Support and assistance from mental health providers is fundamental to healing from trauma.
EMDR THERAPY
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed severe emotional pain requires a long period of time to heal, but EMDR therapy shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma similar to the way the body recovers from physical trauma.
ADAPTIVE INTERNAL RELATIONAL NETWORK MODEL
Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network therapy is a neuro-developmental competency based model of therapy. The AIR Network Model is primarily oriented towards giving people the freedom to engage fully with themselves and in relationships to others. People who live
with complex neuro-dissociative states, a developmental-neurological organization of experience, have very different relational and therapeutic needs than those who have trauma histories without more complex types of dissociation.
